The Art WhippleCheck Power Eating Contest brought to you by Danimal

What's the perfect way to celebrate the 4th of July? Hot dogs. Lots of them.
And so, thats how The Art WhippleCheck Power Eating Contest sponsored by Danimal came about. That, and the fact that Tron is unbelievably talented at eating, and so is the man and the legend Art WhippleCheck. And since I have only heard of the man who eats Tron under the table, it was time that I witness, firsthand, the legend of Art WhippleCheck.
So, the week before was full of preparations - t-shirts, flyers, etc. The menu for Saturday was originally set as pizza, then changed to peanut butter and jelly, and finally we settled for the classic and most practical measure - hot dogs. We went through a string of mini diets in hopes we could prepare our stomachs as best we could. Even conducting a mini test run with Tron, Pat, and I on Tuesday, trying to gauge ourselves with our own XL pizza.
On game day, Pat and I warmed up our stomachs with another early morning ride. Meaning only one thing - an early night. Anyway, after all the hot dogs were cooked, and Art finally showing up with his homemade BBQ sauce, we were ready for a good 12 minutes of hot dog. Or, in Juan's case, these little plastic things called veggie dogs. He deserved to be disqualified from this man sport. So, after about 5 minutes of hard eating, i was done, with 5! Whereas, Art just kept on going to 9 hot dogs filling his stomach. And for runner-up, it was a tie - Briney and Tron both ate 8 hot dogs. Tron definitely fell in the standings after today.
After 12 minutes of hot dogs followed by about 30 minutes of puking by the group, we enjoyed the rest of the day on our Indo Boards. And, thats about it. An early morning = an early night for dr.
The only real disappointments of the day were Jorge and Danimal - both no shows! Jorge is my wonderful boss at work who was going to make us a cake and roller blade over for the event. Instead, we bought our own cake. And as for Danimal..."Danimal?! Wanna come to our eating contest? Your sponsoring it!"....."No! I have kids. I have a life." Basically, he was scared.
And so there it is..the first Art WhippleCheck Power Eating Contest brough to you by Danimal - a great start.


After a good showing from Art, and a super long night of sleep, we were all ready to go Sunday as well. And to celebrate in honor of Zahm - cake and Yucka. So, we got our things together and headed to Hermosa for the day.
We spent the day playing games with the neighborhood kids, spraying the hose, keeping kelly and pants company, and made sure Pelner kept his visor on so we wouldn't mix him up with Lucky. Another hot day in the sun led to another fun weekend at Kelly's - with Russ in tow. But without any eating contests scheduled, only random little events like wrestling in the front yard, Briney's favorite PoopDeck, and Pat waking up the next day with scratches all over his body summed up our day.
