IronMan .5

Finished my first Half Ironman today. Took me, oh about 5 hours 15 minutes and 27 seconds, but really, what else is there to do on a Sunday morning? John thinks its kinda ridiculous anyone would want to do it, but i still think the joke was on him since he's the one who woke up at 4:30 this morning with me. Mark that one down in the calendar - John Amato awake at 4:30 in the am on June 10th, 2007. Good thing he was there though to cheer me on and offer me sandwiches during my transitions. Okay, back to the Race for Recovery. It was held in Monroe, Michigan. Geoff Myers was there and everyone there not named Amato wore a wetsuit. We first swam 1.2 miles in the Lake Erie, rode 54 miles around town, and then finished it up with a 13.1 mile run. Overall, i was pretty surprised at how i finished. This was my first one so i wasn't expecting much. I swallowed about a gallon of Lake Erie on the swim so i was pretty hydrated throughout the whole thing. The course was really flat so that helped my time a lot. But, it was the first time i was on my bike for 3 hours . I had to get off twice just to pee. Killer man. And once i survived the bike I finally got to run. This was one of those times i was actually looking forward to running. This was the only portion of the race that i felt i had trained well for, probably over-trained. And it proved true, i ran under 90 minutes and almost beat my Holy Half Marathon time which would have not made any sense at all. Anyway, its all said and done now, good times, good times. One good thing about this weekend is i can finally get my first tattoo! But only half of it! Next event on the calendar - the Chipotle Underwear Run!
The parents skipped town after the race and left the entire house for Rohn and I. After all the exercose, I decided to live the life of Rohn for a week. How nice. It was an amazing week. We just laid, and laid, ate chipotle, watched movies, and ate tubs of ice cream. It was so amazing i think VH1 is going to feature us on their Best Weeks Ever! television show. Or, they should at least. If only Chipotle delivered.
